The day is long and I am tired - where do we go from here?
Wanna sit me down by a good log fire -where do we go from here?
Tangles forming in my head -where do we go from here?
Can’t get over things we said -where do we go from here?
Rain beats down on a country road -where do we go from here?
Gonna ride til I can’t see anything I know -where do we go from here?
Spend the night at some two bit motel - where do we go from here?
Rather sleep alone than wake in hell - where do we go from here?
And I need to love, and I need to fall
There’s nothing for me here, nothing left at all
And I’m almost there, in my mind, dreams come alive in the night
When I wake I hear you call:   where do we go?
Now there’s an angel sitting by my side - where do we go from here?
Picked up in the lot of a five and dime - where do we go from here?
A thousand voices on my radio - where do we go from here?
But there's just one thing I need to know – where do we go from here?
You say you couldn’t help yourself so you took just what you wanted
Thought you were strong enough by now
Crossed a line somewhere and we’re right back where we started
Aimed for love and missed somehow
I only hope she feels the same now that all is said and done
Was it love ? was it fun?
You drank your fill of me and now the river has run dry
I couldn’t mend this bridge, again, if I tried
Not for all your heartbreak, not for all your tears
not for anything, any more
Innocence it makes no sense if you touch it then it’s gone
Innocence got no defence in doing it’s undone
And then it’s gone.
I hear you crying baby – I just can’t heal that pain
Your tears can’t touch my heart
Innocence looked such a prize but you broke it on the wheel
Now it’s time you played your part
And all your heartbreak, and all your crying, don’t count for anything, anymore
Innocence it makes no sense if you touch it then it’s gone
Innocence got no defence in doing it’s undone
And then it’s gone......
Good morning Mr Spaceman, well what’s eating you today?
Do someone else’s hopes and dreams keep getting in your way?
Did your warning lights go red?
Was it something that she said?
Would you like to press that button and just fly away?
Would that make everything OK?
I'm not feeling very beautiful today…
Good morning Mr Nine-to-five, I’m sorry that you’re blue
Is that buttoned down suburban life not working out for you?
Did your green grass turn to brown ?
Did your children get you down?
Would you like to jump inside your car and just drive away?
Would that make everything OK?
Goodbye sweet world I’m leaving you, I’m checking out today
My head is in the stratosphere already on my way
I’m drifting out of sight. Not coming home tonight
I’ve seen the way it’s going and I’m flying far away
It was great to talk with you today.
Little white house in the hinter lands
Twenty five acres under her command
Waiting for something or someone to lead her
right out of there
Sat on the stoop in the evening light
Stars popping like corn in the heat of a Southern night
Looks to the sky up above for a way out of nowhere
And if you listen real good
You can hear voices in the wood
Say to leave it all behind and just fly away
There’s no-one coming to take your hand
Got to seize the day while you still can
Let your troubles keep house while you hit the highway
No-one ever promised there’s a happy end
You choose your luck like you choose your friends
The only thing that’s understood is in the wood
Hearts made of iron soon fall to rust
Heartache’s the only thing you can always trust
Cuts that deep – well they just never seem to heal
Nothing left but empty sacks of grain
Nothing ventured – nothing gained
City lights shine far away like the way she wants to feel
And if you listen real good
You can hear voices in the wood
Say to leave it all behind and just fly away
There’s no-one coming to take your hand
Got to seize the day while you still can
Let your troubles keep house while you hit the highway
No-one ever promised there’s a happy end
You choose your luck like you choose your friends
The only thing that’s understood is in the wood
Just before lockdown we went into the studio to start our third album.
We got as far as a few live playthroughs before Covid put pay to our plans.
This one was particularly tricky with a switch from acoustic to 12 string electric guitar in the middle..
I got retribution for my sins – show me the way to go home
I got scars from battles I could never win – show me the way to go home
I seen Lazarus dance down that dusty road - show me the way to go home
Seen him stumble and fall ‘neath that heavy load – show me the way to go home
There’s no looking back, trouble's on the track – show me the way to go home
And though the road is long I keep on walking, shadow standing steady by my side
My wounds are deep and the rivers are dry oh Lord
Show me the way to go home.
I been down so far on that lonely road – show me the way to go home
But I know gotta I walk this path alone – show me the way to go home
Gotta keep on - show me the way to go home
Walk on – show me the way to go home
Recorded live - mixed by Rob at Headroom.

IN THE WOOD
This album saw the band with a permanant electric guitarist for the first time in the shape of Canadian blues and country player Sam Grundy-Glynn.     In homage to Sam, whose previous incarnations included a lumberjack, carpenter and luthier (he hand-built his guitar), the CD is printed with a cross-section of Candian spruce.     It also saw forays into more adventurous genres, including Tex-Mex (Camino Real) and our first pure acapella track, Parting Song, written after a friend committed suicide.
TASTING NOTES:   Harmony-drenched, bouzouki-spiced Americana matured in the deep south of London with a rich bouquet of Byrds and Fleetwood Mac and notes of Eagles and The Band - light on the palate with a long mellow finish.

VALLEY OF BONES
Six musicians, sixteen instruments and three part harmony vocals. Sometimes it's the kind of acoustic stuff you'd find playing at a county fair in Missouri, sometimes it's the sound on the bleachers at a stadium gig in LA, sometimes it's the kind of music you find on your car radio as you drive through the backroads of Mississippi.

..the album's title was chosen at random by throwing a dart into a bookcase...
The first single off the 'In the Wood' album and a live favourite.     This was mixed and mastered by Stuart Epps, who produced for Led Zepplin, Elton John and Oasis.     The lyrics (found by randomly opening a book) contain a translation of a poem by the Latin poet Catullus 'Odi et Amo' : I love you and hate you...
